  • Well ‘Canes Preventive Care

    UM/Aetna plan members are entitled to a free routine eye exam with an Aetna/EyeMed or Bascom Palmer optometrist or ophthalmologist as part of the Well ’Canes free preventive care services.

    NOTE: Costs for visits to an ophthalmologist for reasons other than preventive care are covered under the UM/Aetna medical plan at a specialist office visit copayment, after deductible.

  • EyeMed

    As an Aetna member, through EyedMed, you can take advantage of vision care discounts available at nationwide providers, whether you're looking to upgrade your existing eyewear, find a better rate or try something new.

    EyeMed is a nationwide network of eye care providers, including doctors of optometry and opticians, within LensCrafters, Pearl Vision and Target Optical. You can also use any of the participating independent eye care providers who have doctors of optometry practicing at their locations or nearby. Note, routine eye exams already covered by your plan will not receive an additional discount.

    Discounted rates include:

    • Routine eye exams: $49 (if not already covered through your plan)
    • Standard contact lens evaluation and fitting: $40 (a $49 routine eye exam is also required)
    • Premium contact lens evaluation and fitting: 10% off (a $49 routine eye exam is also required)
    • Single vision lenses, uncoated plastic: $40
    • Bifocals, uncoated plastic: $60
    • Trifocals, uncoated plastic: $80
    • Standard progressive lenses (no line bifocal): $125
    • Eyeglass frames, prescription only, uncoated plastic: 35% off retail prices
    • Contact lenses: 15% off retail prices on conventional lenses
    • Lasik procedure: 15% off standard prices or 5% off promotional prices through U.S. Laser Network, and more
