About the Interim Chief Human Resources Officer

Karen Stimmell began serving as the Interim Chief Human Resources Officer in March 2022. In this role, she oversees Human Resources functions, including total rewards, talent management, workforce engagement, leadership and organizational development, HR business partner relationships, workplace equity, and Title IX compliance.
Karen is an accomplished human resources professional with more than 25 years of HR experience, including nearly 19 years at the University of Miami.

During her tenure at the University, she served in multiple HR roles at both UHealth/MSOM and the University prior to assuming a role as Associate Vice President and Deputy Human Resources Officer at the Coral Gables campus. Karen also previously served as interim Chief Human Resources Officer for UHealth. Karen also spent 9 years as a Human Resources leader at the San Francisco Symphony.

She is a graduate of California State University, East Bay, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration/Human Resources Management. She holds a SHRM-CP credential from the Society for Human Resources Management.
